David Vatcher is the executive chef and owner of Best Coast Restaurant, in the Hew and Draw Hotel in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, which shares the dining room with an on-site brewery, Boomstick Brewing Co.

David started his career in Corner Brook, cooking under his mentor Stoyan Zahanov at Sorrentos. It was here that he learned the hard work and sacrifice that goes into running a restaurant. After a few years, David’s passion led him to further his education at The Culinary Institute of Canada at Holland College. He then perfected the craft of fine dining at Bianca's in St. John's as Head Chef for ten years before moving home to Corner Brook. David then opened his first restaurant named Best Coast Cafe. The very popular breakfast and lunch restaurant and quickly became the hot spot on the west coast for almost six years serving up homemade and fresh fair like his famous Eggs Benedict dish and the very popular Fish Tacos. Best Coast Cafe also catered large public events, weddings and fine at-home dining.

When not in the kitchen, David like spending time relaxing at home with his family.

If he was to give you any recommendations, its that restaurant life is not for everyone. Its hard, long hours, and can be very stressful. You need to have a thick skin to do this for a living and you have to give it 100%. But in saying that it can be very awarding and you can build great relationships, if you can work with the right people.
