Each year on the third weekend in September, Elliston, Newfoundland, the root cellar capital of the world becomes the backdrop for a two-day celebration of Newfoundland & Labrador Food, Culture, Land & Sea.

Roots, Rants and Roars is such a unique event, it's hard to capture the full experience in words. We've had some amazing bloggers attend and these are a few of our favorites.

Imagine a food festival where you meander along the coastline sampling dishes from famous chefs and drinking wine. Musicians play music while you lingered by the ocean with a full belly and happy heart and you finish your afternoon with desserts in a playground. Well, dreams really do come true, and it happens every year in Elliston, Newfoundland and Labrador.

We were greeted at the festival grounds with a glass of champagne and a cheese board by Five Brothers Artisan Cheese, complimented by homemade pickles from The Jewish Deli. 

The weekend kicks off Friday night with the Cod Wars, where renowned chefs across the island compete for the best cod dish and the title 'King of the Cod.'
