Chef Shaun Hussey is a locally renowned chef from Conception Bay South, Newfoundland. Over his career, Shaun has honed his craft at various restaurants in places including New York, Nantucket Island, St. Martin, Dutch West Indies, and Fogo Island.

In August of 2010, Shaun and his wife, Michelle LeBlanc, returned to the St. John’s area and opened Chinched, a place where Chef Hussey could showcase his passion for Newfoundland culture, food, and the preservation of traditional techniques. Shaun is especially recognized for his proficiency in “nose to tail” cooking which is highlighted in the preparation of the notable Charcuterie program at Chinched. Under Chef Shaun, Chinched offers a wide selection of fresh and dry-cured charcuterie that is available on the menu as well as for retail from the Chinched Deli.

Under the leadership of Chef Hussey the team at Chinched has been highly recognized over the last few years. In 2012 Chef Hussey and his team took home the Gold at the St. John’s Gold Medal Plates Competition and then went on to represent Newfoundland in Kelowna at the Canadian Culinary Championships. In 2013, Chinched was awarded Best Integration and Promotion of Local Agriculture by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Forestry and Agriculture. In early 2015, Shaun & Michelle were awarded Entrepreneurs of the Year by the Canadian Culinary Federation of Cooks & Chefs as well as the Restauranteur of the Year by the Restaurant Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.
